Cooked vs dry weight
This is the most common mistake when logging rice. 75 g of dry rice becomes about 200 g cooked, with the same 265 kcal. If you weigh cooked rice, log it as cooked; if you weigh it dry, log it as dry.
Pouches and takeaway rice
Microwave rice pouches often contain added oil and come to around 150 to 170 kcal per 100 g. Takeaway pilau and egg fried rice are higher again, often 400 to 600 kcal per portion.
